Mold quality influences the resulting quality of the mold, rendering tooling technology a key factor of success in product mass production. Getac Tooling Design Center has accumulated an abundance of experience in tooling design and mass production, which equips Getac with the capability to service large international customers. To date, the Company has designed and fabricated over 20,000 plastic molds and twin-shot injected molds of different sizes. These molds are extensively applied in consumer products, household appliances, gaming consoles, and automobile electronic products. Getac can produce molds tailored to customer needs, including steel feed, CNC processing, electrical discharge, polishing through to mixed module assembly. Each process is supervised by dedicated department, which endeavors to minimize error values to ensure the surface cleanliness of finished molds, prolonged service life of the molds, and the resulting product quality.

Advanced tooling design techniques
To improve mold design quality, Getac adopts cutting-edge computer-aided engineering (CAE) technology to conduct an in-depth mold flow analysis on product structures before mold development. In addition to auto-CAD 2D design software and PRO-E software, the most advanced MODEX 3D simulation technology and NX (UG) 14 interactive CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) system are also employed to realize all types of molds of complex models and styles. Furthermore, before the tooling process, injection defects are predicted and mold designs are corrected following simulation and analytical interpretations to reduce the costs and time spent on testing the mold, which effectively shorten the product development cycle.The number of days in a cycle of plastic mold development at Getac differs according to the size of the mold and the design complexity. Generally, the development of small-to-medium product molds requires 14 to 25 days on average, and 30 to 45 days for large products. The actual number of days needed varies according to the complexity of a product structural design.

  • Double Injection Molding
Double injection molding is a simplified process that completes the casting of two types of plastic materials or plastic materials of two different colors to produce aesthetic products.
  • Insert Molding
Insert molding is the process of inserting an "insert" inside the mold (the insert can be a screw or metal plate) before plastic is injected to form a single component comprising melted plastic and the insert, which increases the rigidity of the component.
  • MuCell Injection
MuCell (microcellular) injection molding refers to the process of injecting plastic to inject supercritical liquid mixtures into a mold cavity, where high-pressure gas expands at low temperature, achieving weight reduction. Meanwhile, gas in the mold cavity forms gas bubbles of different sizes at high-low pressure point, achieving equilibrium pressure and also preventing warpage deformation, which is likely to occur during plastic injection.
  • Surface Processing
Plastic mechanical parts: External processing such as spray painting, texture forming, printing, laser engraving, and low VOCs processing

Metal stamping is a production technology in which aluminum plate is placed inside the mold and subjected to pressure by using stamping equipment, thus casting into a mold. Aluminum alloy stamping can be combined with plastic injection materials to effective elevate structural strength of the product while reducing the subsequent assembly cost of the aluminum alloy product.
